The Business Forum was held on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd of April 2024, in Macau, within the scope of the 6th Ministerial Conference of the Forum for Economic and Commercial Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.
This Forum was organized by the Chinese Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and co-organized by the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macau), with the support of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Angola (CCIA), the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), Cabo Verde TradeInvest (CVTI), the General Directorate of Private Investment Promotion of Guinea-Bissau (DGPIP), the Chamber of Commerce of Equatorial Guinea, the Agency for the Promotion of Investment and Exports of Mozambique (APIEX), the Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade of Portugal (AICEP), the Agency for the Promotion of Trade and Investment of São Tomé and Príncipe (APCI), the East Timor Investment and Export Promotion Agency (TradeInvest Timor-Leste) and the Business Federation of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.
The event brought together senior officials from China, the nine Portuguese-speaking Countries and the Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong and Macau, as well as directors and representatives of trade and investment promotion institutions, the main business associations and leading companies , with the objective of “promoting new trends in digital transformation and sharing new opportunities for green development”.
During the conference, networking sessions were organized between several companies from China and Portuguese-speaking countries, which were able to explore business opportunities with a view to economic diversification in their respective countries.
Ecoblasa; BGFI, Hull Blyth; Ayala Modas; Diogo Vaz; Ponta D´Ouro, CELVAS, GLS – Construções and Cristal Prestações e Soluções LDA, were the São – Tomenses companies that took part in the aforementioned event.
It is important to highlight that, within the scope of the Business Forum, two cooperation protocols were signed between: APCI and TradeInvest Timor-Leste; APCI and Cabo Verde TradeInvest, both with a view to strengthening cooperation in the areas of private investment, exports and increasing business and economic relations between São Tomé and the respective countries, with a view to improving the business environment in CPLP.
The Forum for Economic and Commercial Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries was established in 2003, in Macau, by the Chinese Government and currently has the participation of nine Portuguese-speaking Countries, namely Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe and Timor-Leste.
