It was an invitation from the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, where Patrice Trovoada had the opportunity to meet with her Italian counterpart to analyze the opportunities and prospects for cooperation between São Tomé and Príncipe and Italy.

The head of the São Toméan government, Patrice Emery Trovoada, took part in the first Italy-Africa Summit on January 28 and 29. It was an invitation from the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, where Patrice Trovoada had the opportunity to meet with her Italian counterpart to analyze the opportunities and prospects for cooperation between São Tomé and Príncipe and Italy.

The São Toméan chief executive also met with the executive director of the World Food Program (WFP), Cindy McCain, the director of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Álvaro Lario, and the director-general of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, who discussed economic and financial issues.

The Italy-Africa summit brought together senior African leaders, including presidents and heads of government, and was attended by the President of the European Commission, Ursula Von Der Leyen, and the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed. Central to the agenda were topics such as Economic Cooperation and Infrastructure, Food Security, Energy Security and Transition, Vocational Training and Culture and Migration and Security Issues.

The highlight of the summit was the presentation of the Mattei Plan, an Italian government program that aims to strengthen cooperation with African countries through investments in various areas and projects. To this end, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced an investment of 5.5 billion euros for cooperation to help the African economy and control migratory flows to Italy and Europe.

The presidents of Mozambique and Guinea Bissau, Filipe Nyusi and Umaro Embaló respectively, and the Prime Minister of Cape Verde, Ulisses Correia Silva, also took part in the summit. Accompanying the Prime Minister were the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Communities, Gareth Guadalupe, diplomats and members of the Head of Government's Cabinet.
